In-School Award Program Description

Overview

Breaking Down Barriers to Literacy

As part of our ongoing commitment to education at all levels, each year, we issue a limited number of awards for our technologies through our “Breaking Down Barriers to Literacy” program. Since the Summer of 2002, Premier Assistive Technology, Inc. has been offering its full suite of literacy software products to educational and not-for-profit organizations. We are committed to providing organizations with the most effective and affordable literacy technology products available in the world today.

We established this award program to help bridge the gap between education budgets and the need for educational organizations to deploy sufficient resources to serve the needs and requirements of not only special education programs, but large-scale drives for improved literacy for all students across their organizations. We fully appreciate the significant budget pressures that all institutions experience and this program will help to act as a catalyst to solidify broad-based literacy initiatives throughout your institution. In this spirit, the lowest level of award is at a district level. Awards are not given to individuals, single departments or "for profit" companies.

Pursuit of the In-School Award from Premier requires a sincere and serious commitment from your entire organization (i.e. Administration, Faculty, Practitioners, and all other professionals).  That commitment must include providing training to all participants, implementing these literacy tools across your organization and regular ongoing communication with Premier Literacy during this entire initiative. Only with such a commitment will you achieve the ultimate goals of this Program.  Therefore, applications will only be considered where Premier can confirm your intent to truly reap the benefits of a long-term literacy solutions for ALL of your students and staff.

Additional In-School Award Information

There are no current or future obligations for an organization to pay any monies to Premier Assistive Technology to use the programs for the versions being awarded to them in the 1st year. After the one-year period expires, there will be an optional, but very nominal, upgrade/support fee (a small percentage of the total award value) that an organization can pay to entitle them to future product releases, technical support, company communications, etc. Again, the upgrade/support fee is optional and only needed if they wish to qualify for ongoing product upgrades and technical support for the following 12-month period. If an organization elects to pay that fee, they have our commitment that the costs of any ongoing fees will be very affordable. If an organization elects to NOT pay the ongoing annual fee, they simply need to uninstall the applications.

The value of the award will be calculated based on the total number of students that can ultimately be served by the products and the fact that our award is based on an unlimited site license for all computers under the direct ownership of an entire school district. While the number of students need not be exact, it is important that this number be a good approximation of the number of total students so Premier Assistive can devote the appropriate resources to support the product and services that we provide to all award recipients.
