Premier Presentation Capture – Podcasting your class
Premier Presentation Capture (PPC) is a software utility that captures your presentation and converts it to a video file. It is compatible with all electronic display technologies (e.g. Smart Board™). It captures the screen activity as well as the presenter’s voice and combines it into a video file “AVI.” This file can then be played on portable media players, such as the Premier VPod, Apple iPod,™ or Microsoft Zune.™
PPC allows educators to create video libraries of examples and alternative explanations that students can download and review on demand. This can be a very powerful aid for preparing students for testing. It is also useful for pre-recording a lesson for a day when a substitute teacher is presenting the material.
PPC is ideal for creating materials for those individuals who have short term memory loss, have trouble taking notes, or who cannot attend class regularly. Students can now review any part of a class while they are doing their homework. They can play, pause and replay the information as many times as they need to improve their comprehension of the material.
Premier VideoBook Capture – Podcasting your books
There are a lot of products on the market that will turn documents into audio files or “MP3” files. The recording for the blind and dyslexic have been doing this for years. This technology works well for many books like novels, however when it comes to math and sciences it has a significant weakness, it does not show the pictures. There are reasons for publishers to put pictures in a book because they add meaning. Think of how long it would take for someone to explain to you what a DNA strand looks like, and compare that to just quickly looking at a picture.
Premier VideoBook Capture software utility solves this problem, by creating true “video books” that can be played on portable media players. Now students can see what is being read to them, not just the text, but the pictures too. Once a book has been recorded using Premier VideoBook Capture, students can copy the files to their media player, go to the page they want and then start reading. They can see and hear the information as it is being read, thereby helping them with tracking skills. When they get to a picture, they can hit pause to view it and press play again to resume. Books can be segmented by page so students can quickly navigate to a chapter and page.
