The previous record was 1:44:12 for a half marathon. The new record is 1:37:10 and Dr. Timmer finished in the top 9 percent overall.

Other world records broken this year by Dr. Timmer are at the 2008 Gazelle Sports 5K Bridge Run where his time was 20:17, beating the old record of 21:14 by 57 seconds. The last record stood for 15 years. He also set a new world record at the Mint City festival in St. Johns, Michigan for the 10 mile run.

TESTIMONIALS:

"Before I retired from a large metropolitan school district I put Premier software on the computers in special classes of students who had difficulty reading and comprehending. Soon they learned to scan articles of the newspaper and magazines and then to listen to them being read out loud as they followed along. They then were able to converse about their various newspaper articles just like other students. What an ego boost--what a confidence builder for these early teens!"

---Fred Romney (Kentucky)

"People who suffer from stroke or head injury may have difficulty seeing or attending to the entire visual field. These people may ignore segments of the visual field which can undermine reading comprehension and the enjoyment of reading. The highlighting feature of the Talking Word Processor helps draw their attention to text. Combined with text to speech, this feature allows these patients to resume reading. I have had a number of patients burst into tears in my office when they realize that reading is not lost to them."
